Prior to meeting with a subject matter expert, I enjoy performing initial research. 

• I like to have a foundation of knowledge before speaking to an expert in the field.  By learning background information, the content will be easier to understand when the expert is explaining his or her goals.  

This also provides an opportunity to brainstorm presentation methods and learning assessments.
